Itinerary
DAY 1
Our trip started at 8 am where we pick the passengers up from their hotels. This 4 hours bus ride take from Cusco to the Apurimac River. Anta will be our first stop in the way, we buy some water fruit for the bus yerny, this place is the last sign of civilization. Continuing with our trip we arrive to the highest pass of the trip 3850 m. From here we star descending to the Apurimac river put in, passing mountain, small rivers and a lot of Andean villages ,we arrive to Wallpachaca the beginning of our trip. Once everything is ready we have a safety briefing followed by a practice in the river, each passenger takes turns swimming in some moderate rapids so everybody can practice grabbing the safety kayak and also securing rescue lines. After this we will have 2 hours in the water running class II, III and IV rapids. Later in the evening there will be barbecue and wine sitting around the fire.
DAY 2
Today´s the longest days in the river. Begins with nice long rapids. Before we run the rapids each guide explain to the crew how to run it and where the safety kayak and the guides with the safety ropes are located. Scenery is amazing, big granitic rocks, cliffs and huge mountains. For safety reason passengers will have to walk around some rapids we call it Portages (class IV, V and VI rapids, non-runnable). The place for lunch is beautiful and it is a good time to relax and rest. In the afternoon there will be more rapids class IV, before we arrive to our next camp, we will have an stop so we can collect fire wood for our camp site. After a good breakfast we will star running class II III and IV rapids (Dragon Tale, Indiana Jones, 3 Marias, Evil´s Fork, and No Name rapids). The table is a nice place to stop and we will use it for Lunch. There after we continue with the trip until we arrive to our last 2 portages of the trip. After this everybody is tired, waiting to arrive to the camp, cold beer, food and wine.
DAY 3:
Por la mañana el desayuno, ingresamos al río a las 9.30am, después entrar a un par de rápidos clase III y IV, arribamos al portage donde una vez mas caminaremos por unos metros, continuamos corriendo los rápidos clase III, IV y V después III y II para finalizar en Kunyac, donde tenemos un gran almuerzo a la parrilla. Después de almorzar retornaremos en nuestro bus privado llegando aproximadamente 5.30pm a la ciudad del Cusco.
